Mike Tyson is set to face Jake Paul in a highly anticipated boxing match on Netflix at 8 p.m. ET Friday. The two fighters recently exchanged heated words, with Tyson slapping Paul during their final faceoff before security intervened. This unusual matchup pits the legendary “Iron Mike,” a former undisputed heavyweight champion, against Jake Paul, a social media star who transitioned to boxing in recent years. Tyson, 58, retired in 2005 after a loss to Kevin McBride and has not fought professionally since. Paul, 27, has built a 10-1 record since debuting in 2020, with his only loss coming against Tommy Fury.
The fight will take place at AT&T Stadium near Dallas, with Tyson and Paul expected to square off around 11 p.m. ET. Other bouts include Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano, Mario Barrios vs. Abel Ramos, and Shadasia Green vs. Melinda Watpool. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has fully sanctioned the event, but there will be changes, such as eight two-minute rounds instead of the usual three-minute rounds.
Originally scheduled for July 20, the fight was postponed due to Tyson’s health issues, including a severe ulcer that caused him to lose 26 pounds. Both fighters have made bold statements, with Paul declaring he will knock Tyson out, and Tyson insisting he’s ready for the challenge, emphasizing that he won’t lose.
