A boat explosion at Lauderdale Marina in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, left one person dead and five others injured, officials confirmed.
The incident occurred Monday night, according to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue. Emergency responders transported five individuals to nearby hospitals. Of those injured, three suffered traumatic injuries, officials said.
Several hours after the explosion, a sixth individual was discovered deceased in the water by the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
The cause of the explosion remains unclear, fire rescue officials said. An investigation into the tragic incident is underway.
