Boeing Donates $1M to Trump Inauguration Amid Oversight Challenges

Boeing is contributing $1 million to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration, joining other major corporations like General Motors, Ford , Microsoft , and Meta . The Jan. 20 event marks Boeing’s continued tradition of donating $1 million to the last three presidential inaugurations, including Trump’s first in 2017.

American Airlines also confirmed a $1 million donation for the event.

In 2016, Trump secured Boeing’s promise to cap costs for replacing Air Force One at $4 billion. However, Boeing has since incurred over $2 billion in losses on the delayed program for two new presidential aircraft.

The company faces ongoing scrutiny from the Federal Aviation Administration Last year, a missing door panel with four key bolts on an Alaska Airlines 737 MAX 9 mid-flight prompted stricter oversight. In October, the FAA launched a new audit of Boeing.

Sean Duffy, Trump’s nominee for Transportation Secretary, emphasized ensuring the safety of Boeing planes. The Senate Commerce Committee is set to hold Duffy’s confirmation hearing next week.
