New charges have been filed against Colorado dentist James Craig, 46, who is accused of fatally poisoning his wife, Angela Craig, 43. Craig, already charged with first-degree murder for Angela’s March 18, 2023 death, now faces solicitation to commit first-degree murder and perjury for allegedly plotting to kill a detective involved in his case. Authorities say Craig attempted to involve an inmate he encountered while in jail in May and June 2023 and again last month. The inmate has not been charged.
Angela Craig, his wife of 23 years, fell ill in early March 2023 after consuming protein shakes allegedly laced with cyanide and tetrahydrozoline, a chemical found in eye drops. She died following a severe seizure on March 15. Investigators linked her death to Craig’s internet searches on undetectable poisons and his purchase of potassium cyanide from Amazon, delivered to his dental practice. A business partner flagged the purchase as suspicious and alerted authorities through a nurse.
Craig initially denied the purchase, later claiming his wife requested it. Prosecutors allege a premeditated plot, supported by evidence from his search history and online transactions. Craig’s lawyer recently withdrew, citing ethical conflicts and a belief that Craig intended to use his services for criminal acts. Jury selection for the murder trial, originally scheduled last week, has been indefinitely postponed. Craig has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
