Former President Donald Trump announced on Sunday via Truth Social that Dan Bongino, a conservative talk show host, has been appointed deputy director of the FBI. The appointment was made by Kash Patel, recently confirmed by the Senate as FBI director. Unlike Patel’s position, Bongino’s new role does not require Senate confirmation.

Trump praised Bongino as “a man of incredible love and passion for our Country,” calling his appointment “great news for Law Enforcement and American Justice.”

Bongino brings law enforcement experience to the role, having previously served as a New York City police officer and a member of the U.S. Secret Service. In recent years, he gained prominence as a conservative radio host and podcaster.

With this new appointment, Bongino will step away from his media career. Trump noted that Bongino is “prepared to give up” his popular program, “The Dan Bongino Show,” which was ranked 56th on Spotify’s U.S. podcast chart.

The move signals a continuation of Trump’s close ties to loyal supporters and conservative voices as key figures in his circle take on influential roles within the government.
