After welcoming her fourth child in March, Gal Gadot revealed a deeply personal story on Sunday, sharing that she was diagnosed with a massive blood clot in her brain during the eighth month of her pregnancy.
The “Wonder Woman” star posted a photo of herself breastfeeding her newborn and reflected on the challenges she faced. “This year has been one of profound challenges and deep reflections,” she wrote. “Perhaps by sharing, I can raise awareness and support others who may face something similar.”
Gadot recounted experiencing excruciating headaches that led to an MRI, revealing the clot. She underwent emergency surgery at Cedars-Sinai hospital. “In one moment, my family and I were faced with how fragile life can be,” she wrote. Despite the uncertainty, she welcomed her daughter Ori, whose name means “my light.” Gadot shared, “Before the surgery, I told my husband Jaron that she would be the light at the end of this tunnel.” Thanks to her medical team and weeks of recovery, she is now fully healed.
Gadot expressed gratitude for the experience that taught her the importance of listening to her body and raising awareness about cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT). She highlighted that CVT, while rare, affects 3 in 100,000 pregnant women over 30 and is treatable if identified early.
“Giving birth is a miracle, but it also demands so much from us,” she reflected. As she celebrated Hanukkah, she called Ori her “constant reminder of resilience, hope, and strength” and encouraged others to advocate for their health.
“My wish is that we all find our light and continue to advocate for health and one another,” Gadot concluded. “Happy Hanukkah, and may this year bring health, strength, and light to all.”
