Hezbollah forces clashed with Israeli troops along the Lebanese border, claiming to have repelled advancing Israeli soldiers. The escalation comes after Israel recently targeted high-ranking Hezbollah members, further intensifying the ongoing conflict. Hezbollah, backed by Iran, has been firing rockets into Israel for over a year, and these border confrontations are now spreading across Lebanon’s mountainous regions.

In the latest skirmishes, Hezbollah reported launching multiple rocket strikes at Israeli soldiers near the village of Labbouneh, close to the Mediterranean coast. They also targeted forces in Maroun el-Ras and fired missiles at advancing Israeli troops near the twin villages of Mays al-Jabal and Mouhaybib. As a result, air raid sirens were heard throughout northern Israel, including Haifa, where 40 rockets were launched, leading to casualties in Kiryat Shmona and Haifa. Israel, in response, intensified its airstrikes, targeting locations far from the conflict zone. Lebanese officials confirmed four fatalities and several injuries after an airstrike hit Wardaniyeh, north of Sidon.

The rising violence has prompted fears of a wider Middle Eastern war, potentially pulling in Iran and the U.S.Over the past few weeks, Israel has conducted several operations aimed at dismantling Hezbollah’s leadership. Since October 1, Israel has mobilized troops from four divisions into southern Lebanon, although it has not confirmed a permanent military presence. The ongoing bombardment has killed over 2,100 people in Lebanon, most of them within the past fortnight, and displaced over a million civilians. In Beirut’s Geitaoui hospital, burn victims from Israeli airstrikes are being treated. Mahmoud Dhaiwi, a Lebanese soldier, suffered severe burns after an Israeli strike hit his car. Meanwhile, Israel continues to hit Hezbollah strongholds, recently killing Suhail Hussein Husseini, a key logistics figure in the group. As both sides continue to suffer losses, there are growing concerns that Beirut could face the same scale of devastation seen in Gaza. The future remains uncertain as regional powers, including Iran, the U.S., and Gulf states, watch closely for further developments.
