Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, rejected U.S. allegations linking Tehran to a purported plot to assassinate Donald Trump, calling it a fabricated narrative. In a post on X, Araqchi dismissed the claims, saying, “A killer does not exist in reality, and scriptwriters are brought in to create a third-rate comedy.” He was responding to accusations that Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards had orchestrated the alleged plot against Trump, who had won the presidential election and was set to take office in January.

Araqchi emphasized that Iran respects the American people’s choice in electing their president and urged for a path forward based on mutual respect. He reiterated Iran’s stance, saying, “Iran is NOT after nuclear weapons, period,” framing it as a policy grounded in Islamic teachings and national security considerations. Araqchi called for confidence-building from both sides, stressing that it should not be a one-sided effort.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei denounced the assassination claims as a “repulsive” plot, alleging that it was concocted by Israel and Iranian opposition groups abroad to undermine relations between the U.S. and Iran.
