Israeli military strikes killed at least 40 Palestinians overnight and on Friday in the Gaza Strip, according to medics. The attacks targeted areas such as Nuseirat, one of Gaza’s refugee camps, where 19 bodies were recovered. An Israeli airstrike later killed 10 more Palestinians in Beit Lahiya, northern Gaza. The strikes also affected other northern and southern regions. Despite the ongoing bombardment, efforts to revive ceasefire talks gained momentum as Hamas officials traveled to Cairo for discussions.
On Thursday, Israeli tanks entered parts of Nuseirat but withdrew by Friday, although operations continued in its western sections. The Palestinian Civil Emergency Service reported that their teams were unable to respond to distress calls from those trapped in their homes. In the aftermath, residents returned to check for damage, while medics and family members carried away the dead, including women, wrapped in white shrouds.
Among the casualties was Ahmed Al-Kahlout, head of the Intensive Care Unit at Kamal Adwan Hospital, who was killed by an Israeli drone. Kamal Adwan Hospital, located on Gaza’s northern edge, has faced severe shortages of medical supplies, fuel, and food, with many staff members detained by Israeli forces. Local health officials reported that two Israeli strikes in Beit Lahiya had killed 70 people, though the figure remains unconfirmed.
