An amended lawsuit filed in federal court on Sunday accuses rap mogul Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping a 13-year-old girl at a party in 2000. Jay-Z has denied the allegations, calling them part of a “blackmail attempt” by the plaintiff’s lawyer. His legal team has not responded to requests for comment. The lawsuit, originally filed in October, did not initially name Jay-Z but identified him as “Celebrity A.”
Combs, who is currently in jail on federal sex trafficking charges to which he has pleaded not guilty, also denies the accusations. The lawsuit alleges that the unnamed girl was drugged and raped by both Jay-Z and Combs at a party after the 2000 MTV Music Awards in New York.
The plaintiff’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, has filed at least 20 civil lawsuits accusing Combs of sexual misconduct. He emphasized that the amended lawsuit is a serious matter that will be litigated in court. According to the complaint, Buzbee had previously sent Jay-Z a letter proposing a confidential mediation, but Jay-Z responded by suing Buzbee and allegedly orchestrating a campaign of harassment against him and his colleagues.
Buzbee clarified that the victim did not seek any financial compensation but only sought confidential mediation. Last week, Buzbee also filed a lawsuit against the law firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, which represents both Jay-Z and Combs, accusing it of harassing his colleagues, clients, and family. The firm has not commented on the allegations.
