A taxi jumped a curb in Manhattan’s bustling Herald Square on Christmas afternoon, striking six people, including a visiting family from Australia, according to law enforcement.
The accident occurred just after 4 p.m. when the cab, heading west on 34th Street, veered onto the sidewalk near Sixth Avenue. Officials said three people were hospitalized, including a 9-year-old boy, his 41-year-old mother, and a 49-year-old woman. Their injuries were not immediately life-threatening, and all are expected to recover.
Three others declined medical attention at the scene.
Law enforcement sources revealed that the boy and his mother were tourists from Australia. The 58-year-old cab driver may have suffered a medical episode, leading to the crash. No charges have been filed, and authorities are continuing to investigate.
