Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour Book,” released on Black Friday, has given fans a deeper look into her record-breaking concert tour, which spanned five continents over 21 months. The $39.99 hardcover, a 256-page exploration of the tour, is available exclusively at Target, which hopes to boost its sales after disappointing quarterly earnings. Online sales are set to begin soon. The initial print run of 2 million copies has generated excitement among Swift’s fanbase.

The book unveils some fascinating behind-the-scenes details about the tour. Swift reveals that during her performance of “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” she spins on a small, moving platform—often likened to a Roomba cleaner—but it’s not automated. Instead, a crew member operates it from inside. For “Mastermind,” the dancers perform on a checkered stage that Swift clarifies isn’t just about checkers; it’s a chessboard, with the dancers positioned in specific spots to recreate a checkmate. Fans had speculated about Swift’s backstage travels, and the book confirms that she rides in a decorated janitor’s cart, offering a surprisingly comfortable, albeit short, journey.

The “Eras Tour” is a military-like operation, with Swift performing nearly 50 songs in a 3-hour, 15-minute show, always starting on time. The tour features songs from her albums, including “Lover,” “Fearless,” “Red,” “Speak Now,” “reputation,” “folklore,” “evermore,” “1989,” “Midnights,” and “The Tortured Poets Department.” The book closes with Swift thanking her fans and teasing more to come, signing off with: “See you next era.”
