President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Katie Miller, a key figure from his first administration and wife of incoming deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, to his newly-formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The advisory body, set to be led by billionaire allies Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, aims to drastically reduce government spending, cut federal regulations, and shrink the federal workforce.

Trump announced Miller’s appointment on his Truth Social platform, stating, “Katie Miller will soon be joining DOGE! She has been a loyal supporter of mine for many years and will bring her professional experience to Government Efficiency.”

Miller previously served as deputy press secretary for the Department of Homeland Security and as press secretary to former Vice President Mike Pence. She is currently a spokesperson for the transition team of Trump’s designated Health and Human Services Secretary, Robert Kennedy Jr.

The DOGE advisory body will focus on restructuring federal agencies and slashing what Trump has labeled as “wasteful expenditures.” Musk and Ramaswamy, who are spearheading the initiative, have expressed intentions to drastically reduce the number of federal agencies, cutting them from over 400 to 99. Both have criticized existing regulations as products of an “anti-democratic, unaccountable bureaucracy.”

While the full roster of DOGE members has yet to be revealed, Trump has emphasized that the group will play a pivotal role in executing his administration’s cost-cutting and efficiency goals. Miller’s experience and loyalty are seen as key assets in advancing these ambitious reforms.
