Uber Technologies (UBER.N) and its CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, each contributed $1 million to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural fund, a company spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday. The ride-hailing company joins several major businesses aiming to foster strong ties with the incoming Trump administration following his November election victory.
The Wall Street Journal first reported Uber’s and Khosrowshahi’s donations earlier in the day.
Other tech giants have also pledged significant contributions to the fund. Amazon.com (AMZN.O) and Meta Platforms (META.O) have each donated $1 million, according to their respective spokespersons. These moves reflect efforts by prominent corporations to establish a positive relationship with the new administration.
Additionally, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman plans to make a personal donation of $1 million to the inaugural fund, as confirmed by an OpenAI spokesperson last week.
